  • Just so you know, radio spectrum is globally coordinated because RF doesn’t adhere to political boundaries. The ITU or International Telecommunications Union, a UN body, has been coordinating this since 1865.

It seems that the FCC, representing the USA, has exceeded it’s authority by permitting the spectrum use in space, outside of the borders of the USA. Several countries, and now the EU, have noticed.

Radio amateurs have been ringing alarm bells for at least six years, radio astronomers and dark sky users have also been sounding the alarm, since many, if not most of these satellites emit RF outside of their frequency allocation and it’s getting worse.

Then there’s the Kessler Syndrome, which looks to be closer to occurring with every satellite launch.

So, no, this isn’t about a little European issue at all. This is about humans being able to communicate globally and for all radio spectrum users to be able to operate at all.

  • I’ve been “programming” for over 40 years.

In many ways, if not all, it’s like creating art.

Perhaps it’s best explained by saying that what I do is translate ideas into ephemeral castles constructed of notional bricks written in imaginary languages and presented to an audience with little or no understanding of the fragility of the whole piece.

It’s also what pretty much runs our world, from water filtration through food production, space exploration to shopping, transport and telescopes, research and recreation.

Programming is the first tool that humans came up with that allowed us to explore ideas too large to fit in our brains and even now, being overrun by Assumed Intelligence and Unsupervised Text Extruders, it’s still the most exciting part of humanity.
