still gonna vote for them over the GOP.

until a truly popular 3rd party candidate can honestly get enough votes. we’re stuck with the 2 we have. or until people rise up and take down the system

Or we get ranked-choice voting and other parties are a viable possibility. But of course, neither the GOP or Dems want to lose the iron grip of financing and power.

sadly ranked choice can still lead to 2 party system. it just ends the split vote problem. still better than first to the post https://youtu.be/s7tWHJfhiyo?is=Bk7WK95bLtDkaTYk

I know what you’re saying, but what you’re waiting for as a sign is logically impossible within the constraints you’ve defined. If no one votes for 3rd parties because they aren’t popular enough then they will always be too unpopular to vote for.

The real work is down-ballot, and actually getting into politics yourself. The problem is that a life in politics has been made (I think deliberately) unpalatable to smart and principled people.

Right now, I feel like the DNC is so weak, and the democratic socialism is so strong, I’m hoping for a DSA takeover of the Democrat party, much like the MAGA takeover of the Republican party.

The good news is, the Dems have no plans other than continuing unsuccessful policy to align themselves with corporations, progressives can continue to be successful if we keep at it.

Criticism of antidemocratic behavior from the Democratic Party ≠ propaganda telling you not to vote.

Claiming that it is IS, on the other hand, is the equivalent of “vote for the lesser oppressor without comment. Dissent is treason.”

the fact this shit only ever really comes up is noticed right before an election against republicans…

Fixed it for you. I call out the bullshit of both parties all year every year. So do most people who aren’t party loyalists with blinders on.

bad faith argument is bad faith

Yep. That’s what the “you’re only criticizing Dems to help Republicans” deflection is. It’s a a bad faith argument and a strawman.
