Maybe Donald Trump really does believe that “tariff” is the most beautiful word in the dictionary.
Despite higher prices, criticism from trade experts and displeasure among voters, Trump holds fast to his belief that imposing the highest import duties on U.S. trading partners since the Great Depression is a winner.
A recent poll suggests that is a big gamble with less than a month before the Nov. 3 midterms. Most U.S. adults disapprove of his trade policies, with more than 64% saying he has gone too far with his latest tariffs, compared with 58% in January.

Has he set a policy to support american production?
Because, theorically, the point of making imports more expensive is to protect the national economy from international competitors. And even if it comes with the drop of the world leadership USA had, it could help american companies to develop better… but that need the hire those who live in the US to produce that americans need, at a price they can afford.
From outside, it seems there are a lot of jobs replaced by AI, and very few jobs newly created. Should it be true, I don’t see how protectionism could help american economy, and even less american people (but I would not bet he cares of the people).
