My cat is extremely suspicious of the three water fountains we bought for him thinking it was just the design he didn’t like. He also refused to eat from the automatic feeder after it went off when he was eating from it.

My other cat is very distrustful of the fountain. I see him eyeing it sometimes. Always looks at it like he thinks it’s up to something.

He feels the same about the humidifier.

Our oldest cat is similar. Always prefers to drink as close to the water jet as possible. None of the others care.

At least yours will drink from the cat fountain. I have yet to find one with decent enough filtration to trick my cat into thinking it’s fresh. If he doesn’t see it coming fresh out of the tap he won’t drink it, which is why I always have him present when refilling his water bowl. I also have to take care to place his water dish as far away from his food and litter box as possible.

Ha! I have a fountain with the same spout, but luckily mine has a splash guard because my cat drinks out of it the exact same way as yours. As goofy as it makes them look, it’s an awesome fountain, my cat is extremely well-hydrated.

      Petlibro

Yeah I had some cheaper one first and found it hard to clean and you had to unplug it to move it to refill it.

The only complaint I have about this one is that the filters that came with it , made my cat sick.

They have some orange resin in them that leaks into the water if you don’t replace them after 14 days. It was like day 16 and noticed my cat had diarrhea and checked the fountain to find orange residue in the water and sides of tray part.

So I bought carbon fiber fishtank filters. The sponge kind. And cut out shapes to fit. And I can clean them pretty well and reuse them. They catch hair and bits of food.

No risk of anything leaking into the water.

I saw other reviews on Amazon of people saying the filters were toxic.

Idk if you had problems with them.

I get that I left it in a few days longer than it said to. But the fact that it made my cat so sick so fast was too risky for me. Plus they aren’t cleanable/reusable.

2 disposable filters a month is kind of ridiculous. They aren’t crazy expensive but not cheap either.

Oh damn, my cat hasn’t gotten sick, but I had no idea! I appreciate the heads up, I’m definitely going to grab some different filters just to be safe.

Is it because it’s the highest point? No weird splashing or noise out of sight if they were to drink from there vs in the intended spot.
