Females with autoimmune diseases are significantly more likely than males to have their autoimmune disease misdiagnosed as a psychiatric or psychosomatic condition, according to a study of more than 6,600 patients.
Yep, my partner had the hardest time getting on Thyroid medicine, her sister has some medical mystery related to Crohns and Diabetes that no one knows what it is.
I have anemia due to my cycle. Literally passing out in class in high school levels of bad. All the doctors told my parents I was faking it for attention or so I could get out of school. This started at 14.
I’ve been begging any doctor to take my serious for 20 fucking years. 4 primary care doctors and 6 different obgyn/gynos. You would swear I was asking for something unreasonable, not to add an iron test to the bloodwork I’m already getting annually.
I could’ve even get my doctor to take me seriously when I nearly fell into an open sewer manhole at work because I was bleeding so heavy that I was dizzy and almost passed out and I started falling forward and my coworker had to catch me.
I started taking iron on my own. 2 years ago I got another new primary care doctor. As usual, I asked for the iron test and expected a fight. She said yeah no problem. I almost died right there. Yeah, I was taking a bunch of iron and I was still low.
Fuck every one of those doctors who refused to listen to me on such a basic ass fucking thing that literally takes you little to no extra work. I hope every single one of you constantly has a rock in your shoe you can’t get out for the rest of your life.
Anyways, that solved almost all my period related issues. Now I’m in peri menopause and no one believes me 🙃🙃
