I know 7 different women with auto immune diseases. I think the quickest diagnosis was 7 years. I know one man. Diagnosed in one visit by one doctor because his mom had it and he has the same symptoms.
I know two women still fighting to get any doctor to believe them that it’s not in their head. One of which who’s mother is diagnosed with grave’s disease and some separate thyroid disorder and the most recent doctor told her he won’t even test her because all of her hair falling out and random skin sores, constant cold sores, and being sick constantly is, “just part of being a mother.” This is doctor #4 for her. She can’t even get referred to a specialist.
I hate it here. Believe women.

I have anemia due to my cycle. Literally passing out in class in high school levels of bad. All the doctors told my parents I was faking it for attention or so I could get out of school. This started at 14.
I’ve been begging any doctor to take my serious for 20 fucking years. 4 primary care doctors and 6 different obgyn/gynos. You would swear I was asking for something unreasonable, not to add an iron test to the bloodwork I’m already getting annually.
I could’ve even get my doctor to take me seriously when I nearly fell into an open sewer manhole at work because I was bleeding so heavy that I was dizzy and almost passed out and I started falling forward and my coworker had to catch me.
I started taking iron on my own. 2 years ago I got another new primary care doctor. As usual, I asked for the iron test and expected a fight. She said yeah no problem. I almost died right there. Yeah, I was taking a bunch of iron and I was still low.
Fuck every one of those doctors who refused to listen to me on such a basic ass fucking thing that literally takes you little to no extra work. I hope every single one of you constantly has a rock in your shoe you can’t get out for the rest of your life.
Anyways, that solved almost all my period related issues. Now I’m in peri menopause and no one believes me 🙃🙃
