Masking one letter doesn’t change the tone. It just makes it worse to read. Self censorship is stupid. I downvote any content that hides it’s intent, as it negates the use of language and makes it harder for non native speakers to follow and learn proper English.
What good is a lingua franca if you change it from normal to some kind of abomination?
It doesn’t have to be. On tiktok or wherever else you obey some algorithm, sure. But Lemmy should be a place for open, honest communication. Even those you disagree with, just to make sure you know your biases and can reflect on.
