Well, if you live in a somewhat civilized country …
Are you sure? Even in Germany police officers are often not held accountable for their asshole actions, there’s barely any legal action against that shit. They often counter sue when they get sued, and victims of police crimes often get harassed when they go public. Misuse of data access also is being reported regularly, and there’ve been allegations that these data are handed over to Neonazis who look for leftists.
Even killing someone under very sketchy circumstances is not necessarily the end of a police career. There are some police precincts here in Germany that have a very bad reputation how they handle their clientele.
Not saying it doesn’t occur in countries like Germany or Belgium, but do a quick search and you will find the US has twenty times as much fatalities caused by police for the same amount of people. Also to become a policeman in Germany means to study for several years and undergo psychological assessment, while in the US new policemen only have to undergo a half year of training.
If you look at the statistics you will notice the reason people feel unsafe nowadays isn’t always found in the numbers. Instead people are more exposed to such stories thanks to social media.
That’s true but from what I remember it’s just a lot worse in the US. German police have its issues, but it’s more rare and less egregious usually.
Not excusing it, fuck everyone who abuses their powers or does not hold people properly accountable, but we’re talking about very different amounts.
I am not arguing against your overall assessment of the German police. But there is always an investigation, for what it’s worth …
Police regularly kill people in Belgium. Granted there are investigations but rarely any consequences. Some make Nazi signs while choking someone in detention. Some run over literal kids in parks
Why are women in this comic drawn normally when guys look like 🗿
It follows the fantasy race rule.
