Today’s game is Baldur’s Gate 3. I managed to get my friends together to keep playing and we went into the under dark. So far it has been hell. For example: These fuckass birds. I was stumbling around down there doing stealth and suddenly got spotted by one from the other side of a huge pit. And what does it do? It calls all its friends. And suddenly my entire party is swarmed by like 3 of these things and a random drow that seems to have an issue with us.

We had another friend that wanted to join our campaign but the 4 player limit stopped him. I tried getting a mod that raises the count to 8 to work, but I found out it’s crossplay is broken and in order to use it I need to switch to the Windows Build instead of the Native Linux one. So I gave up and we just started another save. He was asking pretty hard for mods, so I took the liberty of adding the gunslinger just for fun. I came up with this lady.

The mod is actually kind of broken because it just has a spell that chucks like 25 guns at you and they don’t need Ammo or anything. Because of that I try to stay mostly out of combat.

Anyways, going back to the main save. After killing those birds and then getting into a fight with some slavers further back. I went and made my way to the tree I was looking for. I went into sneak mode so I didn’t piss anyone off. Apparently though Shadowheart didn’t get the Memo and didn’t sneak. So she got seen. I didn’t though! I ended up just climbing onto this branch and playing with Photo Mode since the others were about to quit anyways. I like to imagine you can hear Shadowheart fighting for her life back there.

I also tried to get a party picture but couldn’t get the framing right and Baldur’s Gate 3’s photo mode for some reasons highlights things. So I took this and gave up for the night. I think I was onto some thing. I’m not sure what though

The first picture made me think this was the Tainted Grail DLC (Sanctuary of Sarras) which I really want to play. I really need to get back into that game tbh, the devs keep adding free DLC like new weapons and combat styles, new armors, and even new quests sometimes. Sanctuary of Sarras is an aquatic/Old Ones-themed story where you fight crazy undersea mutations and monsters.

I’ve also been playing The Lantern of the Laughless Saint and enjoying that quite a bit. It’s advertised as a “Morrowind-/Elder Scrolls-like” game where just about every object is interactable, every NPC can be killed regardless, there’s spellcrafting, broken skill mechanics, all of it.

My first thought was that it was an artistic render of the flood from halo.

The scenery matches the first mission you encounter the flood in and the creature on the left looks like a jackal infected with the flood to me

Man. I looked into Tainted Grail and that’s another game to add to my wishlist.

What’s Laughless Saint like? I saw it way back when they were running the ads and it looked interesting. I was a bit wary though because the ads came off to me like they were focused on being just like Morrowind, and I was worried it wouldn’t have it’s own identity. I’m hoping that’s not the case though. I’d love to see it have its own identity while still mainting that “Morrowind-Like” part

Laughless Saint absolutely has its own identity. You can obviously see and feel the Elder Scrolls influence, but it’s different enough to be its own thing. It has somewhat gothic vibes to it, there are no elves but there are “beast-people” like lizards bears and cats, and there are non-playable beast races like frog-people turtle-people and crab-people. The lore is also quite different from Elder Scrolls, but does feel pretty “Shivering Isles”-ish which imo helps in its favor. The combat is more like Skyrim however, so you’re not relying on invisible “dice rolls” for your hits to land, but there’s no dual-wielding and you have to actively switch to your magic like in Morrowind. There are also minimal loading screens, as the entire world is loaded in from the start and there are no “interior cells” so it’s all seamless exploration; you can go from where you first get control of your character and explore pretty much every inch of the island without coming across another loading screen. There’s no fast travel or quest markers on by default, but there are settings to toggle those on if you’d like them.

The story basically goes: you share a dream that calls you to the island along with every other sentient being on the island. Most people are a little strange at best, and some are downright crazy. There’s a “Saint” that calls people in that dream to come to the island and set them free, but no one knows the true nature of what it is.

Tainted Grail is fun and very dark. It’s built less around making yourself as powerful as possible and more experiencing the story of a crumbling Camelot, but you can still make yourself ridiculously OP. Like I said before, they keep adding free DLC that add new unique weapons and armor, new fighting styles and spells, and I think there have been a few quests added as well. I haven’t played the main DLC “Sanctuary of Sarras,” but I’d really like to because I really like “Old Ones”-themed stuff.

The dlc was really enjoyable! If you like the base, you’d like the dlc. Unless you’re talassophobic or something.

Sanctuary of Sarras was surprisingly good. I started it and was like meh, I’m not interested in an undersea world, I’ll go back above water. Went back about a week later and played it all the way through and did all the side quests and really enjoyed the world and exploring the different mini regions.
