Just two days before launching an effort to slash red tape for commercial space transportation, Donald Trump last month purchased up to $5 million of bonds issued by SpaceX, a major federal contractor run by Elon Musk, according to ethics filings made public on Thursday.
The SpaceX bond buy was among 517 trades Trump made in August, transactions that spotlight conflict of interest concerns that have hovered over his presidency.
Beyond SpaceX debt, Trump purchased up to $25 million of Meta shares, up to $6 million of Microsoft stock and a smaller amount of Oracle shares, filings show.

This is as blatant as corruption gets. They never hang a sign saying “Bribes Accepted”, they are never caught on camera accepting a bag full of cash and gold coins with a dollar sign on it.
I think this became inevitable when Nixon was pardoned and it was deemed acceptable by the majority in the house. They should have impeached Ford and removed him from office immediately. Then Super PACs ensured that the now untouchable politician could be bought directly and legally without any worry of legal problems and no secrecy required.
If congress can trade stocks, so can Trump, right? I don’t see how they can trade stocks and he can’t. So they won’t touch him, and they’ll pretend this never happened.
Quid pro quo.
Your claim about Congress is a weird mix of factual observations and future predictions. Let’s clarify… Right now there are few limits. But Congress could pass laws to create limits, and those could focus more (or evenly or less) on POTUS. In fact, focusing as much or more on POTUS makes the most sense, because he has the most power to abuse the system, as Trump has clearly shown us.
I think we need a total ban on insider trading, or however you want to classify it. But more than anything, the president and his family should be forbidden from trading stocks.
They won’t ban the President and his family from trading stocks ever, because they themselves trade stocks now (as they have for decades), and they don’t want to stop trading stocks, and they write the rules.
They don’t want to stop the President and his family from trading stocks, they don’t care. What will you do, vote third party? They are not concerned. (they may say otherwise because that’s their job, but they won’t actually pass a law)
