Are they playing both sides?

Legislation is not only a legal process. There’s public awareness, democratic mandate. Laws don’t become laws when nobody is interested. Sometimes the people pushing for it are weathly elite, sometimes it’s the little guy.

Engaging with public initiatives and such, even if it’s slightly performative, to send a message is fighting for the cause.

Costs that they’re now paying for with ads and subscriptions. So I’ll ask again. What would you do differently?

Why don’t you make an alternative without ads or subscriptions? I’d love to use a video platform as big as youtube without having to pay with money or my attention.
