No it is ethical to just keep the pirated game. If buying is not owning pirating is not stealing, and you should not pretend that it is.

Food is often sold after it has been cooked and not eaten, it goes to compost and than is sold again as fertilizer or top soil. The thing is we the consumer are paying for the food that is not eaten because it costs money to compost.

I disagree; if buying is not owning, pirating is not stealing.

I love the idea of moving to a more socialist type economy rather than capitalist one.

You must have a good after market body part dealer, for a new setup for local HDD’s I think I would need to sell an arm and a leg! This however may also be because I would want to setup a good NAS, even if it was just a random drive setup.
Joking aside have you considered a VPS? I recently went looking for drives that I could make a NAS with and to keep some things backed up off site, after seeing prices I thought about alternatives. EasyDNS, who hosts my domain name and email, also offer VPS’s so I got a VPS to backup my important things, I also have scripts that run to delete say TV show episodes after I have watched them that I will never watch again. It could be Jellyfin that does it for me or some script I vibe coded to work? Whenever you decide to get a new laptop, if you are not selling it pull the drive out you maybe able to still sell it without the drive if you are getting rid of a computer or know someone who is get the drive out of that my homelab has a bunch of different sized drives attached to different devices.

Your point? They will learn what slave labour is and how good it is to have immagrants doing the jobs they do not want to. Sure a lot of the big companies will go under with no one at the top or middle management but oh well!

I have a script that reads over one of the Canada Lemmy groups I am in and sees if a petition has been posted from ourcommons.ca than shares it in the Lemmy group if it has not been shared yet.
I recently found out that this is not always true.
As a Saskatchewan resident who does not understand the idocracy of DST I remember looking things up, because I thought it would need to take Ontario to change to get the rest of Canada to follow the Yukon Territory to stop this and be more reasonable like Saskatchewan. My readings found that Ontario would not do it until New York did it and New York was not going to do it until Ontario did it.
