I was just in Seoul and got around everywhere I wanted to go with public transit. Several times comparing public transit and taxis the transit was faster.

I used to get therapy from a place walking distance from a cat cafe. It was perhaps the best combination.

I run with the “formerly gifted child” crowd. There’s a few things that I think can come from the pressures of being seen as a “fast learner”. The main is that the first part of learning is often the easiest and the place where most progress is seen. However if you want to truly master a topic the rate slows way way down. Former gifted children often have an internalized pressure that everything should proceed at the same speed forever. It’s neither possible or sustainable and mostly leads to burn out.
Additionally there is a tendency of people to stick with the stuff that seems easier or comes more naturally. You see this a lot with academically talented kids dropping out of sports or music quickly because it’s hard for them. This builds an avoidance of persevering through difficult work. Again to master a given topic, even if it’s in their typical skill set they are going to have to slog through parts that are hard and uncomfortable.
I personally seek out teachers or tutors who struggle for B level grades because they’ve had to put work into understanding material rather than just being like of course this thing works this way.

It may have been a situation with my particular school, but the dorms ended up costing more than renting a room (Flatbush vs Park Slope Brooklyn), AND they wanted grad students even to physically share bedrooms. I could image it at 19, I was not going to deal with it at 24.
I’ll start with the fact that I am not a vegan, but I have a cat because a cat walked into my house. She has had several occasions where she could leave and chooses not to (or once she peaces out for three days and came strolling back like nothing happened despite my fiance and I being totally distraught).

So if I was making a website or posting to Facebook it’s probably table of snacks. But since it’s people whose preference I know and who were there I’ll go all out and ask AI to give all details

I upvote you because yes, but also I have a few light independent (non sighted) coworkers who like all the details.

I realize I’m a little bit of a liar. I will sometimes use Be My AI to help alt-text/caption pictures that happen to have a lot going on. So they get a list of snacks instead of something like “table with various snacks”.

I don’t personally use llms anymore, but when I did, it was for use cases where either I wanted a thing to be reasonably easy/fast or I would do without (a character sketch for DnD) or for visual representations that quick google searches weren’t turning up.
I watched a video where someone sent AI images to dress makers so they could make dresses. If I wanted a very specific type of dress, and I can’t draw this seems like a great way to communicate my desires and intentions.

If you have ADHD like it’s being suggested you don’t feel the talked about pick me up of coffee but may find some focus based tasks a little more approachable.

That six month savings cushion should include whatever you pay for mortgage rent etc.

Honestly I do both. I’m 90% sure it’s part of why I was shadow banned on Reddit (along with my use of old Reddit).

I habitually delete about a month back to try and reduce the number of things that taken together could ID me. I’m not a particularly unique person but I’m sure with enough comments someone could get close.
Sounds reasonable to me. I’m currently in a language class and the teacher for part two (of three beginner levels) is much more structure and willing to let us sit with “hard” or uncomfortable questions and I’ve picked up way more than the teacher I had for part one. But I’ve found it true for math and biology and yes music (voice).
