So it’s fair that you are neutral about them for your own use, clearly you know what you’re doing. It doesn’t make sense to be neutral about them, generally. On usability alone they are not good. There are so many people who don’t have a clue how they work, or their consequences, and just click okay when continually harassed into using them. Some will even go ahead and save one on a shared computers, or someone else’s, ‘because the website says so’.

Fail to understand it.
Have a nice life, mate. It’s clearly not going to be an easy one for you, having to muddle through with such poor comprehension skills.

1·4 days agoIt’s laughable that you think that’s a rational response, implying the Democrats were just as likely to rack up as many transgressions.
I can’t prove that my drinking glasses won’t break spontaneously by leaving them on the kitchen bench, but that’s no reason to throw them on the floor to ensure that they do.

1·5 days agoBecause she didn’t win. Had she, we wouldn’t be reading headlines about your dumb fuck president trying to rename the Pacific, rolling back EPA pollution limits, paying Russia to invade the Ukraine through petrochemical purchases, chucking tantrums about not getting a Nobel Peace Prize, and every other stupid thing, every fucking day. Lots of people protested against Democrats and didn’t vote for them, which would have been fine except the US has bugger-all preferential voting, so it put Republicans in power. It’s not complicated.

27·5 days agoControls have to be put somewhere, and networked interfaces mean fewer physical controls that may be difficult to access, tampered with or fail. Having a standard control protocol means interfaces can be changed and improved without modifying the hardware. They’re not a bad thing.
However, having networked controls exposed on anything other than private, air-gapped, wired-only LANs seems rather foolish, to me.
Maybe. Reverse image search lead me to this, though, and her voice sure has potential Swiftie tones.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Creator of free Adobe clones unveils open-source Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, and Word replications — Autodesk tools and other subscription-based services may come next
17·6 days agoI don’t know where you got that idea. The vast majority of people I knew who passed around a copy of Adobe stuff or MS Office, along with a working key or keygen program back in the day, were most definitely not nerds who believed they were hackers.

202·6 days agoPirating Adobe products was common practice for poor uni students, or occasional users that didn’t want to pay exorbitant rates to fix an image here and there. Adobe made that much more difficult. Then you have us Australians that have been getting charged well above the US retail price for years; at one point it was cheaper to fly to America and buy a physical copy.
These slop apps will absolutely let people go back to doing that, and get back at Adobe for overcharging, because the open source tools either don’t work with the file formats required, or they just don’t cut it. I use LibreOffice & GIMP and they’re great, I love them. However, I’m not a graphic designer, and tools like Photoshop leave GIMP in the dust for professional work.

46·6 days agoIntrinsic to this sentiment is the classic false dichotomy logical fallacy. Saving yourself and voting for less destructive leaders (who aren’t starting new wars, and threatening your allies) are not mutually exclusive acts. So while you’re busy saving yourself, you should still be doing what you can to reduce the harm of the current system.

I’m listening, but there’s a deafening sound of a little lady standing by a swab production line, occasionally giving in to her intrusive thoughts of randomly snatching a swab, licking it, feeling a tiny shiver up her spine, giggling briefly, and putting it back. Her heart fluttering each time she dreamt of her next lick.
