I heard that if you’re reasonably informed on Elon’s bullshit spanning the last few years, DOGE, how he’s clearly a Nazi, etc., then there’s nothing particularly revelatory in the doc. I’ll probably skim through it at some point, but it’s nearly 4 fucking hours long and god knows I’ve watched enough Some More News on YouTube through the years to have a pretty detailed mental account of all the ratfucking he’s been up to.

I bought mine years ago for around $40. I think they still sell it but it costs a bit more now. They have cheaper boards, but I don’t know if those have the no monthly fee thing. It’s a very cool little dev board, but be warned! Unless they changed it, there’s no reverse polarity protection on the battery connector! It uses a regular jst battery connector which can physically only plug in one way. I foolishly assumed this meant that it couldn’t be plugged in with reverse polarity, but it turns out there’s no established “correct” polarity for that connector and the battery I had fried the first board I bought. If you buy one, make sure you double check the battery polarity!

It’s not a fully redundant backup network. It’s a microcontroller called a particle boron that has a 4G antenna. I bought it because there’s no monthly connectivity charge within a certain usage limit, and I’ll never go anywhere near that limit with this use case.

I once got locked in a state of sleep paralysis and managed to call out for help. I said “please wake me up I’m having a nightmarrrre” but in a really scared voice and no air in my lungs, just forcing the sounds out with my diaphragm. It freaked my roommate THE FUCK out. Honestly it was a little embarrassing but they just think it’s a cool story now. It’s kinda funny how our emotional states flipped because they went from “hehe is he sleep talking?” to “WHAT THE FUCK HE NEEDS MY HELP!” and I went from “I’m trapped in an inescapable torment of my own unconscious mind!” to “ok I’m awake now. That’s better.” My eyes were already open but I couldn’t wake up. The instant I saw them open the door I was immediately awake and calm. Meanwhile they were dealing with a major adrenaline surge and took a long time to calm back down.

I built what is basically a smart plug, but it uses 4G connectivity instead of my standard WiFi. The idea is that if my home network screws up and I need to reboot my router and modem, I can still do that remotely. There have been 2 times in my life that I really wished I had this set up because my Plex server was down while I was traveling. The ideal scenario is that I never have to use the thing, but whenever I see this flashlight post, it reminds me that I kinda do want to need it just once.

I have a cherished memory of one of my friends who had dozed off on our downstairs couch being woken up by the sound of my Dad digging through the fridge 3 feet in front of him wearing only his torn whitey tighties. This is what his face did all within 2 seconds as he decided he should just pretend to still be asleep…

Visited a friend not long ago and they tried to prepare me for the dog to hate me.

Me and this dog were immediately friends as soon as I walked through the door. Within 30 minutes, he was chilling in my lap and soaking up the attention. Within an hour, he was laying next to me on the couch and partially resting his head on the cat which was so unheard of that my friend had to take a picture because they said their partner would never believe it. Apparently the dog got along with the cats like… well like cats and dogs, but my presence got them to all chill out and just hang on the couch. I absolutely felt like this pic.

I was so confused when I realized that the restaurant thing is the same as the tire company. I’d assumed my whole life that it was just random that both happened to be associated with the same name. Honestly it still doesn’t make much sense to me.

Would be pretty cool if we could build a crowdsourced network of these that do basically exactly what flock does, but just to keep a constantly updated public database of the location of all cop cars, hopefully with the ability to associate cars to specific officers with names, photos and badge numbers.

Sure, but backports are a thing, right? The new Wolverine game “requires” a console firmware version of like 13.40, but you can download a backported version of the game that runs on 4.0. I don’t have a ps5, and I don’t know how any of that translates to emulation, but I’ve got plenty of ps4 games that “require” a higher firmware version than what my console has, but I can play them because they’re backported. The current ps5 jailbreak works on firmwares as new as a few months ago. Backported ps4 games have been a thing for years, and from what I can tell about ps5, that doesn’t appear to have changed.
