While I do laugh at this and it makes me smile a little due to my immense dislike of religion in general… the guy was a redemptorist, a congregation with a vow of poverty and the aim of helping the poor. You can hate them for their missionary work and generally the catholic church is a very valid receiver of criticism and hatred. But these guys in particular hold social justice in high regard.
I’m not saying he’s a good guy, I’m saying I’d have liked it more if it happened to someone worse.
God has shit aim

This man, Father Molinari, died violently in front of a crowd of loved ones.
This man, Father Molinari, preached a religion that has caused more death and suffering than any group in history. A willing culprit in genocide, slavery, bigotry, and misogyny. I say if their blood is spilled on the altar to their hate and fear then I won’t mourn them.
Edit: Gather around, ye Christians, and tell me you aren’t all bad. Surely the charity the church gives isn’t a direct result if the massacres they’ve waged in God’s name.
I don’t know about this man in particular but you are mixing a whole religion up with colonialism.
some christians were persecuted and even genocided, see e. g. armenian christians, or balkan christians under the ottoman empire. Other christians in LatAm explicitly resisted imperialism and built peoples organizations and got targetted and killed for it by the CIA, look up liberation theology.
You have a very western view on christianity and your reddit-tier edgy atheism is not looking at the material causes but just blindly blaming religion. Youre putting the carriage before the horse, it wasn’t religion that caused colonialism, but colonialism twisted christianity to fit its needs.
Oh, yes, sorry, I wasn’t taking into account “eastern” Christianity… Those were the good ones. They weren’t reading from the same book.
What about christians like Bonhoeffer and other members of the “confessing church”?
Ok, so that means watching him die wouldn’t be traumatic for the people in the congregation?
No more traumatic than the families that have suffered at the hands of Catholics have endured.

It’s bad taste to use a moment where a priest is killed as meme material
I was raised Catholic and do not have the slightest pity for those involved in that hateful, destructive group. I did not realize that this was real, though. It almost makes me want to believe in God, again. Almost.

I could probably make my statement more generic. It is not it being a priest that crosses the line, but taking a still just before a person is killed, religion or not, as meme material.
Yes, but also this was an incredibly ironic circumstance, so while I understand and agree I think it was inevitable.
I’ve always had an icky feeling about the user who posted this. now I have enough proof to block them.
don’t misunderstand though. I’m not upset about mocking the religious aspect. it’s more the complete disregard of human life and turning it into a mockery within days of it ending. especially for a person who clearly didn’t deserve it.
Boss gave him a promotion.
Jesoos, god of Sneaksy!
