Just two days before launching an effort to slash red tape for commercial space transportation, Donald Trump last month purchased up to $5 million of bonds issued by SpaceX, a major federal contractor run by Elon Musk, according to ethics filings made public on Thursday.

The SpaceX bond buy was among 517 trades Trump made in August, transactions that spotlight conflict of interest concerns that have hovered over his presidency.

Beyond SpaceX debt, Trump purchased up to $25 million of Meta shares, up to $6 million of Microsoft stock and a smaller amount of Oracle shares, filings show.

And leading every criticism with a disclaimer gets tiresome and takes away from the main point. I’m not doing that. Stick with what I’m saying, and don’t try to conclude on anything I’m not.

…then you’re not going to be very good at getting people to change their current position. What you’re saying is “both are bad”. That’s all. The thing most people will do if “both are bad” is follow the “better the devil you know” approach. Your “both are bad” approach without any disclaimer will only keeps things the same. You’re not even making a point - you’re “both sides”-ing. Or “what about” -ing.

Yes, it’s tiresome. But important. If you don’t want to put in the work, don’t make it worse by half-assing your argument.
