In the continuing race to see who can throw transgender people under the bus most quickly, South Carolina Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate Annie Andrews has released a new direct-to-camera campaign ad in which she states that she does not support trans athletes playing in sports that affirm their gender identity.
I am so sick of this trans focus. They are a small part of the population that does zero harm, just leave them the fuck alone. They are not the source of even one of our very real fucking problems. Any politician that mentions them should be immediately forced to resign and be barred from any leadership position for life.
Any time we are letting MAGA choose the debate topic, we are losing. Either ignore it, and let it be a one-sided debate, or simply say that it’s a medical subject between a patient and their doctor, and as such they have no opinion on the matter in any way, nor are they interested in anyone else’s.

This is what is so insane to me, the trans “issue” (there is no issue, just treat them like people) is a nothibgburger.
There are sooooooo many more important issues, cost of living, healthcare, general safety, climate change, Russia, China and more, before ever comming close to speaking on trans policy.
And when it does come to speaking on trans policy, I would suggest not calling ut that, just make it a part of the general policy, people need healthcare, give it to them, a healthy people is a productive and happy people, some needs more/different care, others needs less, both benefits here.

Not OP and I get your point but I think if people are generally trying to figure out the correct words for things, esp when those things could upset someone, we should try to be a bit less dismissive. If someone uses the wrong word for a thing in my field (and it is a case where it actually matters) I try to gently correct them. OP seems sincere here, people are curious, and both of those are things to be encouraged I think. That said, I can understand how when you’re having these interactions every day it can be exhausting.
