Yes, it’s Bally Bagayoko. In France “socialist” is associated with “socialist party” which is center left. Bagayoko is “La France Insoumise” (Unyielding France) which is a lot more leftist, so he would probably not like this adjective very much even if it might apply in a US context.
Yeah, they’re basically what the actual socialist party was 40/50 years ago. The socialist party is center right at best nowadays.
