PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Epic Games chief Tim Sweeney claims 'Valve has held gaming back for years'English
20·5 days agoI’m not sure how you’ve managed to get things this twisted up. Overwatch is from blizzard, who are doing fine. Dota 2 is from Valve themselves and is steam exclusive. And as a swede, I can’t complain about calling pubg pung 😄
I don’t have a spare tire in the car, so a blown one would definitely mean a missed flight :P Accounting for traffic is fine and what I hope the original commenter meant, but trying to account for all things that can go wrong and are out of your control is not particularly reasonable. And in the hypothetical scenario of the comic they explicitly state there isn’t a safe period to pass.
That is subjective. Tiny will also mean slower. For stable systems large buffers can be an acceptable risk.

Technology@lemmy.world•Some iPhone Duo screens are already failingEnglish
3·7 days agoThey seem to hold up well enough, but I’m pretty anal about my glasses, screens, and monitors to be clean. And seeing the fold reflect light differently in the middle of the screen would not be a pleasant experience. The punchole cameras are had enough!
Yeah, no, I’m not more than doubling all my travel times to account for someone potentially slowing me down. Sometimes you just run late. I don’t go to the airport a day early because there might be an accident on the motorway.
I would assume he means sub 44.1k Hz and 16-bit.

Programming@programming.dev•Software is slow because of bad design, not slow languages
61·9 days agoI don’t think you’re making the kind of argument you intended to make. Those are two different programs with two different development teams behind them. The design behind them (the literal thing the article is talking about) are likely completely different from each other. Comparing the languages based on two different implementations of the same spec is a bit more than disingenuous. If you want to actually compare you need to recreate the same implementation as closely as feasible. Something like this https://youtu.be/WB7v-ezqcJM
Well timed with the music as well if you didn’t have audio on ^^
I don’t know what the state of it is today, but one if the things that Snowden’s leaks showed was that NSA was/is hording massive amounts if yet unencrypted data. So it’s been going on for a while.
Don’t need it cracked today if you can store all the encrypted data in the world existing now, waiting for the day cracking it becomes feasible. It might be a bit outdated, but boy would the AI companies still over that training set.
to crack a root CA certificate.
We haven’t built any with that purpose yet.
I think I know which one you’re thinking of. I can’t find it, but something about an employees availability being sorted into subscription tiers.

10·13 days agoIt’s not a problem inherit to induction hobs. But oh god do I agree. On mine it’s any little spill or pot out of place on any touch button will turn it off. I will demand physical knobs on my next stove top.

I’m thinking the same. His whole “more prompting, faster, security is for losers” mentality is not going away with this. I’m glad I swapped to my own domain name at least when swapped to proton, so the next migration should hopefully be easier. Does anyone know any good guides or have any tips? Mainly worried that there will probably be a period I won’t have any emails coming in and would be a shame to get stuck in that position 😅 Specifically around changing the DNS records around
