You paid me $20 so you got a $20 weld.
Pay me $50 and you get a $50 weld.
If you pay me $100 your still getting a $50 weld - I’m not that good at welding.
I could have sworn I’ve seen this exact premise in another, better comic months ago
I think I know which one you’re thinking of. I can’t find it, but something about an employees availability being sorted into subscription tiers.
Me too, if I had more time for searching I’d find it and link
Whatever could be better than shitty sharpie drawings on postit notes?
FWIW, this exact comic has been posted before, possibly several times.
The first thing that lets you know none of capitalism is an equal exchange of value.
American business owners are very dumb. They will pay $10 in capex to save $1 in labor. And they will spend $100 in marketing to salvage slop that cost them $1 to produce.
But when you’re playing a rigged game, you can afford to play stupid. Just so long as you maintain a monopoly on violence, you can always steal back your losses down the line.
FUCK I HATE YOU PLEASE MAKE OUT WITH ME RIGHT NOW
Just so long as you maintain a monopoly on violence, you can always steal back your losses down the line.
Or get it back as interest on loans, which as the late David Graeber tells us is the same thing.
I work at a shitty megacorp where they hire people as “contractors” and then have them act like full time employees, but without any paid time off or health insurance.
I have made this joke a few times when people were like “work late to finish the thing!”
The ICs found it funny. The corporate ghouls and boot lickers did not.
Isn’t this what all companies do now?
What do positions even produce that are supposed to “hand in reports”?
Any sort of analyst. Their job is to summarise potentially huge amounts of information, draw conclusions, and document it all in a report that someone else will act on. They might be analysing a military situation, the worldwide market for bespoke buttons, or looking at how the company’s supply chain is functioning.
Finance ghouls.
Analysts. Gartner, McKinsey, Forrester etc are huge companies.
