Despite a wildly unpopular war with Iran, a mass protest movement for peace hasn’t materialized — at least in the ways we’ve been taught to recognize.
We crossed some kind of abuse threshold.
I’ve been alive a long time. I’ve always been vocal about everything that is now visible. No one believed that the rich actually wanted to hurt people (as opposed to simply an accidental byproduct of greed), that there were giant pedophile groups, that the climate was headed into a disaster that simply could not be weatherd by 90% of the earth population, and that this was being done on purpose (again as opposed to an accident byproduct of greed), and so much more.
People always agreed with me that bad people were doing bad things, but denied the severity I was trying to impart to them and the truth of why it was happening. They would talk about it all though.
They would discuss problems they could accept and possible solutions. They would discuss action or being supportive of action. They would get emotionally invested in the horrible things they could see, and how to fight them.
People are mostly no longer capable of either.
I thought that when all this became visible, I would be vindicated and gain a country full of allies. I have seen the opposite. I have become untouchable.
I have thought deeply about this. No one ever even seriously looked at what I was saying decades ago, because they can’t, psychologically. This level of depravity and destruction is not something they can handle in any way, and they themselves are now at direct risk. So they simply stop looking.
The abuse is so severe and their minds so ill equipped to handle the truth, that they cannot even confront it. Especially when it is coupled with blanket surveillance and random punishment.
I have watched several formally vibrant, large communities of people, become shells mimicking the lives they used to embody, while completely ignoring the need to organize and plan for our own safety, much less action.
People are dancing on blood slick floors, or cowering in front of the glow of their drug delivery devices, hoping that exhaustion gets to them before the fire in the walls.
Lotta bad shit is going down in the USA which is turning into Iran. Domestic terror from our government is the most pressing issue at this point. We have facist cops private the kings personal army running amok millions of idiots ready to kill democrats at the drop of a hat and we are about a click away from becoming actual Nazi Germany and the midterms are less then a month away. And if Dems seize power their is going to be no more war with Iran which was an illegal war that Congress never approved.
Tl;dr: there is a lot of shit happening in the U.S. right now.
Maybe it’s because most of us are working three jobs to be able to afford to eat and have to choose between a place to live and medical expenses while we’re being black bagged in the street. At least flock can watch it all.
For real though I think that people aren’t protesting because of the mid terms. Any protesting would be used as ammunition to get Republicans into office, so people are waiting until after the election in hopes that Congress can be flipped and something can be done with politicians who might be sympathetic to the people.
Oh no wait we’re all dumb and like sports and are tooooo stupid and blind with cheeseburger vision, Your Country Here is much better than ours.
Unfortunately those of us that would be protesting are currently preoccupied with trying to defend our communities and loved ones from ICE kidnappings.
I disagree with several of the takes in this thread. This is exactly the type of war you’d expect to be protested (whether expected or not) since it has a direct bearing on the livelihood of the average American. Expecting a protest in the US against US imperialism on a moral basis would be naive - most Americans are forgiving of their government’s persecution of others as long as it means they can live a comfortable life - but this is precisely not that. This war has unequivocally made their lives less comfortable. Has the average American not made the connection between the Iran war, inflation and its consequent worsening of an already unbearable cost of living crisis? Are they concentrating all of their energy on punishing the Republicans in the midterms?
I do genuinely feel that many Americans are stuck in an almost cosmic cycle of production and consumption, living in a type of illusionary reality. But, at some point, the veil has to come off.
Even if it were to happen, the media would not report on it
This, we have constant protests going in Portland but no one hears about them.
Most Gringos only care about their gas prices and can’t point to Iran in a map, so…
Then where are the non gringo protests?
Within the concentration camps
I don’t think thats exclusive to “gringos”. A lot of people in general don’t care about things that aren’t directly affecting their day to day or their wallet. Maybe we can stay divided and point fingers, or maybe we can stand united and do something about this mess. Hmm?
Probably because despite the fact that the war is unnecessary and annoying, ultimately no one actually likes Iran. With Palestine, everyone wants to defend them; they’ve done nothing wrong and are the victims of oppression. Iran is actually awful and has been for a while. No one wants to be confused between being anti-war and pro-Iran.
No one liked Sadda Hussein’s Iraq but that war had quite a few protests.
The difference I see is that we weren’t lied into justifying this war. It isn’t popular even among Republicans. Hell, the Republicans ran the last election in significant part saying that Kamala Harris would start wars and vote for Trump because he would not.
There are no Iran war protests because in 2026 America has a widespread feeling like nothing people can do fucking matters at all.
Also, the people who tend to go to protests have already been using their protest time/energy/priorities for protesting authoritarianism inside the US.
Iran has been fucked over by the US/UK since the 50s. They are what they are now because of the US. They’re absolutely the victims of oppression. The argument about people not wanting to be perceived as pro-iran is real, but doesn’t fully explain it because zionists and US media have painted Palestinians and “hamas” with that same brush and fear of being perceived as being pro “terrorist” has also played a role there for decades.
In both cases, they’re simply defending themselves. They’re not doing anything the US wouldn’t do if it was being attacked and invaded. One man’s terrorist is another’s freedom fighter.
As far as why Americans suddenly care about ethnic cleansing and genocide in Palestine and are willing to be identified as supporting that struggle, despite it having been ongoing even longer than US meddling in Iran, is mostly due to decades of independent media strategies employed to force Americans to look at it. Famous mainstream people are finally behind it. It’s hip now.
Also Gaza is tiny so the concentration of crimes against humanity is denser. Iran being able to defend itself presents a real cost to attacking them, leading to this mostly being a stand-off, and 150 school girls getting blown up is a far cry from 20000 children in Gaza.
Because Iran the aggressed is winning
So was Vietnam.
Vietnam had a draft and a lot of dead American kids.
That’s not fair. Give it time.
We are talking about over a million dead Vietnamese unlike this current war in Iran. Also the protests against significantly was reduced very late in the war
Iraq was a surprise (to many, anyway)
Iran, everyone in USA has been aware of our pending fight with Iran for the past 50 years or more. Iran and USA have rattled sabres regularly, you’d have to be totally disconnected from US foreign affairs to be unaware of this. It has been expected.
We’ve been at war with Iran for decades, using drones and missiles and jet fighters and even putting boots on the ground. Iraq was our proxy state who received military equipment and chemical weapons from us to fight in the 80 and 90s (at least).
More than these three countries are involved in the war. Some have even switch sides. Just like USA isn’t just the USA, and uses other states to fight, so does Iran.
I think any unprovoked war is a surprise.
I think even the US government was surprised when Trump decided to join Israel in attacking Iran.
The US’s end game seems to be to defeat communism and spread American corporate exploitation but I don’t expect the US to go to war with other countries, they often try regime change, though. Venezuela was a surprise too so maybe the US is behaving in unexpected ways now.
It was provoked. Iran provokes the USA constantly.
(provoke= attack of US holdings, US doesn’t like it when you blow up their things)
And the USA provokes Iran constantly. If anyone gets lazy with security in Iran’s government, the USA kills them with a drone strike. And, we blow up their things, too (I’m including Israel with USA in that “we”)
This isn’t an “Iran vs. USA thing”. It’s “Israel, USA, Saudis, and more” against “Iran, Lebanon, Syria, and more”. It’s been escalating for years and years, slowly but surely. Iran funds HAMAS, Hezbollah, and various rebel groups, and the US does the same (for Kurds et al).
All of these groups are fighting in Syria and elsewhere in middle east. There are at least a dozen different factions fighting in Syria right now. Hundreds of thousands of people have died.
I encourage you to look at the recent history (and further back, decades). Neither country (including proxies) can say that they haven’t provoked the other with frequency.
Why they don’t call it WWIII, I have no idea.
Okay, so right before the Israel-US attack you were expecting it? Interesting. The United States didn’t even know the attack was going to happen until late February, days before the attack.
I wasn’t expecting that specific attack in that exact way, but of course I expected “an attack”.
To me, an attack is the exact opposite of interesting… it’s mundane. The USA sends hundreds of drone strikes alone every year.
USA vs. Iran goes back eighty years.
Other mundane (or interesting, depending) predictions for the next year using my advanced psychic powers:
Russia will attack Ukraine.
Ukraine will attack Russia.
The USA will strike Iran
Iran will strike the USA
Israel will strike HAMAS
HAMAS will strike Israel
Iran will attack Israel
Israel will attack Iran
